Microsoft To Deploy In-Store Service Reps

Redmond, Wash. — Microsoft plans to provide retailers with in-store customer service representatives to assist shoppers with their PC-related purchases.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the software giant expects to deploy 155 “Microsoft Gurus” in U.S. chains like Best Buy and Circuit City by the end of the year.

The service reps will answer consumer questions about PCs and Microsoft products and demonstrate the “interconnectedness” of the company’s operating systems and services, AP said.

The effort is part of Microsoft’s new $300 million marketing campaign,

which includes TV spots by comedian Jerry Seinfeld
