Mercedes To Expand HD Radio Option

Montvale, N.J. – Mercedes will expand the availability of optional HD Radio to 11 models in the 2010 model year, from the current five models, making HD Radio available in the majority of the automaker’s U.S. vehicles, the company announced.

HD Radio is currently available in the M-, R-, GL-, G-Class SUVs and E-Class models. In the 2010 model year, they will be joined by the CL-, CLS-, E-Coupe (formerly CLK), S-, SL- and SLK-Class models, which will be in dealerships by late summer. The technology will be available as part of premium feature packages.

Mercedes is one of the 12 automakers who have committed to offering factory-installed HD Radio technology in their vehicles, said HD Radio developer iBiquity Digital. The others are Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercury MINI, Scion and Volvo.
