MDEA Makes Executive Changes

Irvine, Calif. — David Naranjo, consumer electronics research VP at market research firm DisplaySearch, has been named product development director for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s A/V products division, replacing Marty Zanfino, who advances to government and industry relations director.

Zanfino will be responsible for managing all MDEA interaction with government and industry organizations. In his new role, Zanfino will identify technical, policy and industry issues that impact the company, define the MDEA position on these issues and promote those views within key industry groups, the company said.

Key areas covered in the position include DTV, Cable, IPTV, home networking and environmental concerns.

“Marty is uniquely qualified to take on this critical role for MDEA with his extensive technical and product development experience over the last nine-plus years with Mitsubishi and previously with Harmon and Pioneer,” said Frank DeMartin, MDEA marketing VP. “He also has experience with standards development and has participated in many industry committees on both the technical and policy aspects of the consumer electronics business.”

Naranjo, meanwhile, has over 15 years of experience in the consumer and commercial electronics industries.

He was most recently consumer electronics research VP with DisplaySearch, an NPD Group company that is globally recognized for its market research and consulting work related to flat-panel displays.

Prior to joining DisplaySearch, Naranjo was group manager of product planning for the Panasonic AVC Networks Company, where he was responsible for planning and launching television and set-top box products for the North and South American region.

Previously, Naranjo spent three years with General Instrument in the commercial cable TV set-top box division as a product manager and application engineer.
