Matsushita Recalls 6K Laptop Batteries

Tokyo — Matsushita Electric Industrial became the latest notebook battery supplier to recall product, issuing a recall today of 6,000 lithium ion battery packs.

The recall is small compared to those initiated by Dell and Apple, but the company decided to replace the batteries after it discovered two cases where the battery cover was faulty. The batteries were made by a third party manufacturer under the Matsushita name, but the company refused to name the maker.

The batteries in questions were included in the Let’s Note CFW4G notebooks made between April and May 2005.

In the past two weeks Dell and Apple recalled a combined 5.9 million notebook batteries, which were manufactured by Sony.
