Manhunt 2 Rating Causes Stir

New York — The Entertainment Software Ratings Board defended its decision to lower the video game Manhunt 2 to a Mature rating in the face of family group opposition, which wants the game’s original Adults Only rating reinstated.

According to a Reuters story, Common Sense Media and the The Parents Television Council called for an investigation into why the ESRB’s downgraded the game to Mature. The less-restrictive rating allowed the game to be sold in the United States.

At issue is the fact that hackers have accessed the game for Sony’s PlayStation Portable, allowing players to view scenes depicting torture and other extreme violence.

Manhunt 2 is published by Take-Two Interactive Software.
