Magellan Intros 7-Inch GPS

Santa Clara, Calif. – Magellan introduced a new RoadMate
1700 GPS device with a larger-than-average 7-inch screen.

The Roadmate 1700’s WVGA color screen provides four times the
standard screen resolution. It is targeted to drivers of SUVs, RVs and
commercial truck drivers and those who would benefit from a larger screen. Most
portable GPS device screens top out at 5 inches.

The new Roadmate is an in-car only device designed to sit on the
dash or adhere to the windshield. It includes preloaded maps of the 50 U.S. states, Canada
and Puerto Rico, and offers highway lane assistance,
spoken street names and integrated AAA TourBook information.  It has mini USB 2.0 and MicroSD slots and a
video-in jack. It is available now at $299.

Magellan was
purchased
by MiTAC, the parent of Mio, in January from Shah Capital
Partners.
