Magellan Expands PND Line For RVs

Santa Clara, Calif. – MiTAC has
expanded its selection of Magellan RV GPS Navigators designed specifically for
RV users, all with 7-inch screens and RV-related features.

Two new models are $379 RV9145-LM
and $429 RV9165T-LM. They join the company’s first two RV-targeted navigation
devices, the $399 Pro9165T and the $349-suggested RV9145. They shipped in
August and earlier this year, respectively.

The two new models offer the same
features as the original two but add free lifetime map updates. For the
original two models, consumers can purchase map updates.

All of the devices are preloaded
with the Good Sam Trailer Life Directory, which features North America
campground directory to help users find RV services, pet-friendly campgrounds,
campgrounds with Wi-Fi and more than 6 million other points of interest. The
PNDs also let drivers customize routes based on their vehicle’s height, width,
length and weight to help drivers avoid low bridges, narrow roadways and
weight-limited streets. Highway Lane Assist guides RV drivers towards the best
freeway lane from which to approach interchanges and exits in the U.S.

The devices also come with
adjustable heavy-duty extension mounts for RVs with deep dashboards. An A/V
input enables connection of external devices such as DVD players or backup
cameras. Magellan offers its own $149 wireless backup camera, which automatically
switches from navigation-mode to become a rearview monitor when the RV is in
reverse.

The new $379 RV9145-LM features
lifetime map updates, and the new $429 RV9165T-LM features traffic reports and
lifetime map updates. Of the company’s first two RV-targeted devices, the $349
RV9145 lacks traffic and lifetime map updates, and the $399 PRO9165T offers
traffic reports.

The Pro9165T and RV9165T-LM
models also include built-in hands-free Bluetooth.

The products are available through Camping World, Best
Buy, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and RadioShack.
