Carlsbad, Calif. — Security supplier Linear is expanding into lighting controls with the launch of wireless Z-Wave-based lighting systems for residential and commercial applications.
The systems, available to security dealers and custom installers, are the Nortek subsidiary’s first lighting-control products, a spokesperson said.
The residential products will ship by the end of April and will include 500- and 1,000-watt wall dimmers, wall switches, wall outlets, lamp modules, appliance modules, three-way switches/dimmers and fixture modules.
Linear also said it will also use its OEM resources to manufacture Z-Wave products for other companies.
The Z-Wave products complement the products acquired with Linear’s recent acquisition of 2GIG Technologies, which offers a home-control system that uses Z-Wave to manage lighting, security, access control and other home systems.
Z-Wave is an international wireless standard for interoperable, low-power, RF mesh-networking technology.
Linear’s other products include security systems, access control, intercoms, garage door openers and gate openers, among others.
