Lightning Audio Strikes From Ground Up

Tempe,
Ariz. – Rockford Corp. launched its first new

Lightning Audio

autosound products in
several years with the rollout of 23 new amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers.

“While Lightning Audio has been currently
selling products over the past several years, we had essentially stopped any
new product development,” marketing director d David Slepak told TWICE. “The
new LA line is new from the ground up and has been crafted to address consumers
who are looking for a value-packed product, high-end looks and fantastic
performance.

The lineup, shipping early this month
worldwide, will be sold through authorized Lightning dealers, some of whom also
sell the company’s Rockford-Fosgate brand.

Ten
amplifiers start at a retail price of $149.99, with seven coaxial and component
speakers starting at $49.99, four 10- and 12-inch subwoofers starting at $79.95,
and two loaded enclosures starting at $199.95. Lightning also plans a
five-channel amp.

The
amplifiers feature MOSFET designs in a new unibody design. Loudspeakers are
wrapped in cast baskets in what the company said is “unique for a product in
this price category.” The subs’ “vortex style” cones contribute to “extreme
rigidity and stiffness,” the company said.

The products are “poised not only to address
standard sized vehicles but [are] also ideal for the new breed of smaller cars
that are now mainstream,” added Jason Dunn, product development manager.
