LG To Sponsor ‘Skins Game’

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics signed a three-year agreement to be the title sponsor of the Skins Game starting this Thanksgiving weekend.

ABC Sports will televise the event in high-definition 720p format as a joint venture of ESPN Regional Television and Trans World International (TWI).

The Skins Game, which offers a $1 million purse, is said to be one of the highest rated golf telecasts of the year.

ABC’s coverage will begin on Nov. 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, continuing on Nov. 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“LG Electronics is thrilled to become the title sponsor of one of the most-watched golf telecasts of the year,” said Michael Ahn, LG Electronics North American president/CEO. “Partnering with IMG and ESPN/TWI on this unique sporting event further enhances LG’s premium brand positioning in the United States, and we look forward to joining millions of golf enthusiasts enjoying the outstanding golfers who will compete in the LG Skins Game over the next three years.”

Each of the first six holes (one through six) will be worth $25,000. Each of the second six holes (seven through 12) will be worth $50,000. Holes 13 through 17 will each be worth $70,000, and the 18th hole, called “the LG Super Skin,” will be worth $200,000.

The foursome will play for $300,000 on Saturday and $700,000 on Sunday.

The event will be take place at the Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta, Calif., at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The par-72 course opened to public play in February 2003.
