LG, Panasonic Supply Dem, GOP Conventions With CE

NEW YORK — LG Electronics was the official digital display and electronics provider for both the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions, while Panasonic Corporation of North America was a key technology provider to support their on-site and online activities.

LG provided the GOP Convention in Tampa, Fla., with more than 900 displays, including LED HDTVs, smart TVs and Cinema 3D models.

It then provided hundreds of LG displays, including LED HDTVs, smart TVs and Cinema3D models, for the Democratic Convention in Charlotte, N.C., running Sept. 4-6.

Panasonic was selected by both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions as a key technology provider.

For the Democratic Convention, Panasonic provided such devices as its Lumix GH2 16-megapixel compact system cameras for the web and social-media efforts during the convention; its 32-inch LCD displays for use at delegate hotels and at Charlotte-area event venues; and its 65- and 85-inch Professional plasma displays for teleprompter screens for the main stage, in television production support, and as monitors for backstage functions.

For the GOP convention, it provided its Lumix GH2, as well as its TS4 12.1-megapixel digital cameras and HC-X900 and HC-X900M HD camcorders. It also provided its AG-HPX250 P2 handheld camcorder to capture time-lapse video of the Tampa Bay Times Arena from the convention’s build-out through its final night. Key moments of the convention were captured key moments in FullHD 3D for the GOP’s archives, using Panasonic’s AG-3DP1 integrated twin-lens 3D P2 HD camcorder and the HDC-Z10000 twin-lens 2D/3D handheld camcorder.
