LG Offers Blu-ray Optical Drives

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics has launched a line of optical disc drives that feature 6X Blu-ray reading and writing speeds.

In addition to Blu-ray, the three models are also compatible with DVD and recordable and rewritable CD formats, LG said. The line feature’s LG’s exclusive SecureDisc capabilities for data protection and content control on all current optical formats, as well as LightScribe technology to allow for the creation of direct-to-disc labels right from the drive.

Model BE06 is targeted at laptop users or those that have more than one PC. It features a USB 2.0 connection and a DC power adapter. It offers 16x DVD+RW/-RW recording speeds and carries a suggested retail of $379.

The GBC-H20L and the GBW-H20L carry suggested retails of $199 and $279, respectively. Both models are 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read compatible and offer up to 40X CDRW recording speeds.

TheGBW-H20L is even said to be able to handle up to 50GB of data, equivalent to around 4.5 hours of high-definition video or 22 hours of standard-definition video. It also features 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE read and write compatibility and 16x DVD+RW/-RW recording speeds.

All three models are now available.
