Ottawa — Flash-memory maker Lexar and software developer Corel announced a one-year extension of their partnership to bundle Corel’s imaging software with Lexar’s flash-memory cards.
As part of the deal, Lexar will offer the full version of Corel’s Paint Shop Pro X software as a free download for consumers purchasing the company’s Professional memory-card line. Paint Shop Pro is an advanced image-editing program, currently in its 11th iteration at retail.
For the first time the companies will offer a full version of Corel’s Snapfire program to purchasers of Lexar’s Platinum II and Standard line of memory cards. The program will be available as a free download.
Lexar has shifted away from physically bundling software with its cards in favor of an offer for a free download, which will be advertised on product packaging. The company has made several additions to its Professional line this month, including new CompactFlash and SDHC memory cards.
