Las Vegas – Lenovo will introduce its first Android operating system-equipped desktop computer and personal cloud storage device this week at 2014 International CES.
In addition the company has several hybrid tablets and an upgraded Horizon 2 Table PC on display.
The Lenovo N308 running Android 4.2 is an all-in-one desktop with a 19.5-inch touchdisplay, 500GB hard drive and webcam. While the N308 is designed as a desktop replacement it also has an internal battery with capable of running it for four hours.
The N308 will carry a $399 suggested retail price and ship n June.
The company will also show an improved version of its 27-inch Horizon 2 Table PC, first introduced at last year’s CES. The primary change is the addition of a TV mode that turns the Horizon 2 into a smart TV. The TV mode is activated when the table PC, which normally functions lying flat against a table, is moved to an upright position using the supplied stand.
Lenovo has also included new accessories including a card checker, pen and TV remote. The new version is also equipped with the Windows 8.1 operating system. The technical specs of the unit have not changed, it has 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of storage with an optional 64GB solid state drive, Nvidia GeForce GT620M 1GB graphics with DirectX 11, integrated speakers with Dolby Home Theater, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and an internal battery provides about two hours of life.
It will ship in June with a $1,499 suggested retail price.
Lenovo’s other AIO offering is the A740. Like the Horizon 2 it has a 27-inch 10-finger touch display, but is much thinner at 4mm compared to 18mm for the Table PC. The A740’s display has a resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 and is powered by Nvidia’s GTX 850A graphics processor and it is equipped with JBL speakers using Dolby Home Theater surround sound technology. There is 1TB of storage.
It will carry a $1,499 suggested retail price and ship in June.
To help tie all these devices together, Lenovo will ship in April the Beacon Home Cloud Center. The Beacon is being called a personal cloud service enabling a consumer to store and access all their media in a single place. Files can be uploaded via USB cable, Wi-Fi or from a smartphone using an app.
The Beacon will come in several capacities up to 6TB with a starting price of $199.
Lenovo will introduce a slew of hybrid tablets as part of its multimode product portolio this week during the 2014 International CES including the Miix 2 detachable three-mode laptop.
Also new at the show is the Thinkpad 8 business-ready tablet, Yoga 2 flip and fold hybrid and the Flex 14D and 15D convertible laptops.
The Miix 2, available in 10-inch and 11-inch screen sizes, is a detachable unit that can function in three different usage modes. The first is has the tablet connected to its base unit/keyboard where it is a traditional laptop or the tablet can be detached and used separately. Finally the two segments can be connected, but the tablet folded back 180 degrees creating a stand so the user can watch movies.
The Miix 2 is powered by a fourth generation Intel Core i7 processor with optional 3G/4G capability. It can come with up to 256GB of solid state storage and has 2-megapixel front and 5-megapixel rear cameras. It weighs in at about 1.6 pounds.
With the Yoga 2, Lenovo has shrunken down the current design making it thinner and lighter. Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models are now 17.6mm thick with the former weighing 3 pounds and the latter 3.49 pounds. The units are also now available with a fourth generation Intel Core i5 processor and a storage capacity boosted to 500GB.
The Flex 14D and 15D are part of Lenovo’s extreme value, multimode line. The two are based on an AMD A6 quad-core processor with AMD Radeon graphics and Dolby Advanced Audio v2. Unlike the other units, the display does not disconnect but it can flip back creating a stand mode enabling easier movie viewing.
The final new entry for the show is the ThinkPad 8, an 8-inch tablet weighing less than 1 pound and geared for the business professional. It has an optional keyboard to deliver a full laptop experience. It is powered by an Intel Bay Trail Quad Core processor and 64GB of solid state storage capacity.
