To celebrate this milestone the company is offering a 15
percent discount
on select models starting on Oct. 8 and has upgraded three
ThinkPad models with improved graphics, the company said.

The 60 million laptops were shipped over the 18-year history of
the ThinkPad line, and the company said its notebooks were the first to include
built-in CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives, built-in wireless, fingerprint reader and
an embedded security subsystem.

The upgrade laptops are the T410, T410s and T510. These have
received Nvidia's Optimus graphics technology, which the company said not only
improves the laptop's graphics capability, but also extends battery life by
about one hour per charge.

These are available starting on Oct. 5, with the T410 and T510
carrying price points in the $1,299 range, while the T410s is set at $1,849.
