Lenovo Bows Desktops Featuring Olympic Logo

Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Lenovo has added two new desktop PCs to its 3000 line. Lenovo 3000 models J200 and J205 will be the company’s first PCs to be distributed worldwide displaying its Olympic Games composite logo, featuring the brand name and the Olympic Rings.

Lenovo is a worldwide sponsor of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing; as part of its sponsorship the company will act as the excusive computing equipment supplier for the games.

“The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games proved an opportunity to showcase our best engineered PCs to the world,” said Dilip Bhatia, executive director, global desktop marketing management, Lenovo. “We’ve designed our latest Lenovo 3000 desktops with that spirit in mind, displaying the Lenovo Olympic Games composite logo along with a new, stylish design and including the features a small business needs to stay productive like high performance and excellent management capabilities.”

The J200 models feature Intel-based processors and the J205 models have AMD-based processors.

Both of the new silver and black tower desktops feature Gigabit Ethernet, integrated graphics, six USB ports, a chassis intrusion lock and a PC lock slot. The models can also include an optional nine-in-one media bay and DVD Multiburner, and select models feature TPM 1.2 data encryption.

The PCs come equipped with the Lenovo Care Tools suite of software, which the company said “helps the small-to-medium business user manage the PC easily with automatic updates, one-button system recovery and password management.”

According to Lenovo, the new desktops feature 80 percent efficient power supplies, which meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star 4.0 standard and also helps customers to reduce energy usage and costs compared to previous-generation models.

Lenovo said the desktops will be made available in August to coincide with the one-year-out countdown to the Olympic Games, which start in August 2008. The J200 will have a suggested retail starting at $399 and the J205 will start at $449.
