LaCie Bows 1TB Little Big Disk Quadra

Portland, Ore. — LaCie has introduced a 1TB version of its Little Big Disk Quadra line of portable storage solutions.

The company already has 500GB and 400GB versions.

This latest device features two 2.4-inch hard disks designed to work together in a built-in RAID 0 configuration, which LaCie said enables up to 110MBps burst transfer rates when using eSATA or up to 80MBps if using FireWire 800.

The drive comes equipped with one eSATA 3Gbits, two FireWire 800 and one USB 2.0 interface.

It features the LaCie D2 heat sink design, which features entirely fan-less operation. It is bus-powered by the FireWire interface and weighs about 1.5 pounds.

The device is plug-and-play compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and Windows Vista. It comes bundled with EMC Retrospect Express backup and restore software for Mac and Windows. The company said it can also be daisy-chained using one of the two FireWire interfaced with other LaCie hard disks or DVD+-RW drives.

The 1TB Little Big Disk Quadra is available now at a suggested retail of $659.
