Konica Minolta Previews Digital SLR Lenses

3/16/2005 01:54:00 PM Eastern

Mahwah, N.J. — Konica Minolta announced the development of three new interchangeable digital technology (DT) lenses for its digital SLR cameras.

According to the company, the DT lenses “employ a new optical system that is specifically designed for digital SLRs” and will be incorporated into a lens offering that covers APS-C and 35mm formats.

Konica Minolta plans to ship the lenses in the summer or fall of this year.

According to the company, the new lenses will enable precision ADI (advanced digital integration) flash metering when mounted on the Maxxum 7D by incorporating a distance encoder for processing distance information in the lens.

The lenses, which will be promoted as specifically designed for digital photography, are not designed according to the 4/3 standard promoted by Olympus and Fujifilm for “all digital” SLR photography, a company spokesman said.
