Rochester, N.Y. — Kodak reported a second-quarter sales loss of $173 million.
For the quarter, Kodak earned $592 million versus a year-ago loss of $282 million. Kodak attributed the gain to cost cutting.
The company was able to narrow its loss from the year-ago quarter, when the imaging firm reported a net loss of $294 million. Sales reached $2.5 billion, down 7 percent from $2.6 billion in the year-ago quarter.
Revenue from digital sales was up 3 percent to $1.46 billion from the year-ago quarter while revenue from traditional sales dropped 17 percent.
Kodak’s consumer digital imaging group posted a net loss of $55 million for the quarter on revenues of $1 billion vs. a year-ago loss of $133 million on revenues of $1.105 billion.
