Knowledgefest Ushers In New Products

Dallas – Car electronics
manufacturers congregated here over the weekend at Knowledgefest to network
with retailers and see the latest and greatest in the category.

The event, which is
being held at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Conference Center from Oct. 10-12, is
hosted by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA).

Alpine Electronics

introduced a digital media receiver and said it has several specials available
to authorized retailers in the U.S.

The iDA-X305SBT bundle consists
of

the iDA-X305S

digital media
receiver with Pandora playback and a Bluetooth module. Retailers will be able
to offer the iDA-X305SBT for $399, a saving of $100.

Current specials include
a $999 promotional price for the INA-W900BT AVN system with navigation, which
represents a savings of $150. A special on the CDE-100 and CDE-102 CD receivers
paired with the SPS-600 Type-S or the SPE-6000 Type-E 6.5-inch coaxial speakers
results in savings of $20 to $30, depending on the combination of products that
are purchased.

Both promotions will
remain in effect until Nov. 30.

Audiovox

used the
show to take the wraps off four remote starters under its Code Alarm brand. All
four fall under the redesigned Professional series.

Perhaps most notable for
the company is the CA5051MT, Code Alarm’s first ever remote-start and keyless-entry
system for manual transmission vehicles. Features include two one-way 433MHz
four-button remote controls, the ability to accept up to four remote controls,
glass-mount antenna with built-in red LED light and valet switch, RPS, onboard
lock/unlock parking light flash confirmation relay, trunk release, DBI port and
diesel compatibility. Suggested retail is $219.

The CA6551SST ($699)
vehicle security, remote-start and keyless-entry system has a two-way LCD
display  and will remote start a vehicle
within a range up to 1 mile. The unit can accept up to four remote controls,
has a glass-mount antenna with a built-in blue LED light and valet switch,
125dB weatherproof siren, RPS, starter interrupt and trunk release.

The CA5550SST ($459)
also has a one-mile range. Features include 900MHz two-way LCD display command
confirming metal transmitter. It differs from the CA6551SST in that the
CA5550SST is a remote-start and keyless-entry system but not a security system.

The last new product,
the CA5150, has a one-way metal transmitter and a $239 suggested retail. It
differs from the CA5150 in that this has a metal housing.

Auto Page

introduced
three remote starters: two under its Data Start brand and one under the C3
brand.

The Data Start system is
designed to be used with an ADS module. The unit itself is the approximate size
of a business card, Auto Page said.

Two two-way systems were
debuted. The DS-434 will be an AM system based on the company’s RS-730 transmitter
designs with a range from 1,200 to 1,500 feet. The DS-915 will be 915Mhz SST system
that will deliver up to one mile range and will have transmitters based on its
RS-915 system. Both have multi-color displays.

The C3 Hybrid will be
the next generation of

Auto Page’s C3 product line

and
features door lock/unlock remote starting, vehicle tracking and security
integration. Apps will be available for the iPhone, Android, Blackberry and
Windows mobile platforms, and it works with Auto Page systems, competitor’s
aftermarket systems as well as factory security and keyless entry systems, the
company said.

These systems will be
available in the first quarter of 2011. Pricing has not been set yet, a company
spokesman told TWICE.

Jensen

demonstrated the Internet Radio app on its 9300
series of mobile multimedia systems. The app is said to provide access to more
than 35,000 stations. The 9300 series was first introduced at International
CES, and the models are now shipping.
