Klipsch Debuts New X5 Earphones; Renames Previous Model As X10

Indianapolis — Klipsch introduced the X5 earphones today, part of the company’s Image line.

The company said the Image X5 earphones are only 2mm larger than its predecessor, making them easier and slightly less expensive to manufacture. As a result, the price of the new X5 is $249.

The former X5 model will be renamed as the X10 and will retail for a suggested $349.

The X5 features translucent Contour ear gels that are designed to fit comfortably inside the ear canal. “These soft, oval silicon tips reduce ear fatigue and provide an amazing seal for excellent noise isolation along with increased bass response,” said the company in a release.

Five different-sized ear gels are included: small, medium and large single-flange designs, as well as small and large double-flange designs.

It’s said to use a balanced full-range armature driver with a tuned bass-reflex system for crisp, clear highs and deep lows. According to Klipsch, the X5 and the original differ in that the X10 uses an exclusive balanced full-range armature micro-driver. The company said the X10 is meant for listeners who prefer a lot of bass in their music, while the X5 has a superior top end with more forward voicing.

Included is a carrying pouch, an airplane adaptor, the above-mentioned ear gels and an ear gel cleaning tool.

They are scheduled to become available this month. Klipsch said that purchasers who complete an online warranty registration will receive a free package of replacement Contour ear gels in the size of their choice.
