Kingston Launches New Cards, Music Promo

Fountain Valley, Calif. — Flash-memory firm Kingston Technology announced several new memory cards yesterday, including a microSD card preloaded with music from the independent service eMusic.

The eMusic promotion will bundle a 1GB microSD card loaded with 10 songs and a trial subscription for 50 additional MP3 files.

The card is shipping now for a suggested $19.99. It is the second content-oriented flash bundle for Kingston in recent months. The flash firm teamed

with Shutterfly

to offer an SD card with software for loading images directly to Shutterfly’s online service.

The company also announced a 4GB miniSDHC card. The memory card will be available in Class 2, 4 and 6 speed ratings for $62, $64 and $66, respectively.

For digital SLR users, Kingston launched a line of higher speed CompactFlash cards. The Ultimate line will now feature write speeds of 266x, double the speed of the previous card, the company said. The cards will also ship with a copy of MediaRECOVER data recovery software.

The card will be available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB for a suggested $83, $144 and $289, respectively.
