JVC Readies HDMI, MHL

LONG BEACH, CALIF. – New JVC multimedia receivers will focus on HDMI and MHL connectivity, multiple app support, and very intuitive GUI designs, said Keith Lehmann, senior VP of JVC Mobile Entertainment and Kenwood executive VP of consumer electronics.

JVC currently offers a pair of multimedia head units with MHL but doesn’t offer HDMI-equipped head units. The MHL-equipped heads charge an MHL-connected Android phone and display the handset’s video. HDMI is also uncommon in aftermarket head units, with Pioneer offering it on multimedia heads to enable touchscreen control of select iPhone apps and key functions on newer iPhones with all-digital Lightning connector.

The brand is also launching new business strategies “to better serve the specialist retail channel, including enforcement of MAP and transshipping policies,” he told TWICE. The brand has also launched “a recommitment to merchandising support and increased sales tools for specialist dealers.”
