JL Audio Recalls Car, Marine Amps

12/06/2010 10:25:50 AM Eastern

Miramar, Fla. - JL Audio has voluntarily recalled select HD750/1
autosound amplifiers and MHD750/1 marine-audio amplifiers shipped to authorized
dealers before December 2009.

The amps could
cause a fire "under rare circumstances," the company said. A few incidents have
resulted in damage but no injuries, the company added.

JL Audio staffed
up its repair facility in Phoenix to provide total turnaround time of seven to
15 days, including transit time. Repaired amplifiers will get a minimum of one
year warranty coverage from the date of the repair.

JL Audio is asking
consumers to discontinue use immediately and bring their vehicle or boat to an
authorized JL Audio dealer, which will unmount the amplifier, verify that it is
included in the recall, and send it to JL Audio. JL will compensate dealers for
the effort and pay for shipping.

JL Audio is
supplying dealers with the serial numbers of affected amps shipped to them so
dealers can identify and notify purchasers of the recall.

U.S. consumers could
also follow the procedures outlined at www.jlaudiorecall.com
to send their amplifier directly to JL Audio.

JL Audio is
working with the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and
the Office of Boating Safety on the recall.
