Jensen Ships 2011 12-Volt Lineup

Hauppauge, N.Y. – Audiovox has begun shipping its 2011 line of Jensen-brand multimedia head units, speakers and amplifiers to retailers.

Jensen hopes to gain speaker share with the launch of the Revolution-series speakers, which are the first new Jensen speakers in years. The lineup consists of eight coaxial and triaxial speakers as well as a component-speaker system with what the company called an aggressive look that features angles, piano-black finish and high-gloss red center. Sizes range from 3.5 to 6×9 inches, and suggested retails range from $39.99/pair to $129.99/pair.
Two new in-dash multimedia head units consist of the $649-suggested VM9424BT A/V-navigation system and the $399 navigation-ready VM9224BT A/V system, which connects to an optional $299-suggested Jensen NAV102 GPS navigation module. They’re the brand’s first multimedia head units with built-in hands-free Bluetooth.
Four new amps comprise the Jensen Power series, promoted as the brand’s strongest amp series in recent years. The new models carry over their predecessors’ technologies but add piano black finish. They consist of a mono amp, two-channel amp, four-channel amp, and five-channel amp prices at suggested retails of $89.99 to $299.99.
The products were shown at January’s CES, but pricing and ship dates hadn’t been announced.
The Revolution speaker series delivers high power handling with controlled response that delivers sonic nuance and clarity, a spokesman said. Each speaker features a nitrile-rubber surround for maximum excursion and linearity, a vented pole piece and spider for better heat dissipation, carbonate tweeters, polypropylene woofers, and continuous power handling ranging from 20-400 watts with peak power handling of 60- 1,000 watts. They also feature mechanical damping.
At the top of the multimedia head-unit line, the $649 VM9424BT features built-in navigation system with 6.2-inch touchscreen, CD/DVD player, maps for the 50 states and Puerto Rico and turn-by-turn voice guidance in three languages (English, French and Spanish). It also features 11 million POIs and 3D landmarks. Other features include built-in hands-free Bluetooth with external microphone, iPhone/iPod USB input, front-panel SD Card slot, a front 3.5mm A/V input, and a rear iPod/iPhone USB input with MediaLink interface that captures iPod/iPhone video via an optional cable. The unit is also XM Satellite Radio-ready.
The $399 VM9224BT offers the same functionality as the higher priced unit with the exception of built-in navigation.
In the redesigned Power amplifier series, all models feature high- and low-pass filters, variable bass EQ, passthrough RCA inputs and outputs, extruded-aluminum heat sinks, and blue illuminated VU level meters. Power outputs range from 400 to 1320 watts.
