– Real-time traffic updates from Navteq have come to Xroad’s turn-by-turn
navigation application for iPhones.
Xroad’s G-Map U.S and Canada app, available through the
iTunes store at $39.99, will be the first turn-by-turn app for iPhones with
Navteq’s real-time traffic service, delivered via cellular, Navteq said.
The app provides
spoken street names, 3D junction view, points-of-interest database, and ability
to resume music playback after the app delivers a voice instruction.
NAVTEQ Traffic sends
traffic information to maps via wireless to in-vehicle navigation systems, portable
navigation devices (PNDs) and cell phones. Information includes road
construction, traffic speeds, and accidents in 128 geographic areas covering
more than 200 million people in the U.S.
and Canada.
