InterVideo Intros New Media Software

Fremont, Calif. — Software vendor InterVideo introduced a new suite of multi-media software, called MediaOne, that bundles a host of common media applications into one program.

The software is shipping now for a suggested retail price of $99.95.

MediaOne lets users view and edit video, including DVD and VCD playback, on the company’s WinDVD software. Users can create their own video using WinDVD Creator. Video files can be recorded from a TV, DV camcorder or Web-cam.

On the audio side, the software lets users create multi-session CDs via DiscMaster, in addition to ripping CDs to MP3, WMV, or WAV files. Consumers can also use the DiscMaster program to back up data files and create “mixed mode” CDs that combine audio and data in one disc. MediaOne also offers photo management software, called PhotoAlbum, for organizing and searching digital photo archives.

The software offers customization for more advanced users, letting them create shortcuts to frequently used tasks, start individual programs without launching the MediaOne task bar

According to Chris Grell, business development director, InterVideo, the media software industry is moving toward “all in one” solutions because OEMs want to work with just one vendor and retailers want to reduce SKUs.

“The market for media software is sizeable, because this is what people are doing with their PCs,” Grell said. He added that suite products, such as MediaOne, were typically more successful on retail shelves because the products are too big to download.
