Intel Ships 3rd-Gen. Atom Processors

Santa Clara, Calif. – Intel today began shipping the latest
generation of Atom processors formerly code-named Cedar Trail.

These processors are for low-powered mobile devices like
netbooks. The first netbooks from Asus, Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Samsung
and Toshiba featuring Cedar Trail Atom processors will ship early next year.

The new Atom design has a dedicated media engine enabling 1080p
FullHD playback and the optional availability of HDMI and DisplayPort. The
integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600/3650 will deliver twice the
graphics performance of previous models, the company said.

The Cedar Trail processors will enable netbooks to last up
to 10 hours on a single battery charge, a 20 percent improvement.

Also included are Intel Wireless Display and Intel Wireless
Music to share this content between the netbook wireless TVs and music systems.
