Infinity Introduces 3-In-1 LCR, Classia Loudspeakers At CES

Infinity is showcasing the Total Solutions TSS three-in-one integrated left-center-right (LCR) loudspeaker and the Classia speaker line at the Harman Consumer Group booth 1831, North Hall.

The Infinity TSS three-in-one combines the left, center and right front speakers of a home theater system in a single enclosure that is designed to be slim yet still offer expansive multichannel sound.

It can be shelf-mounted or wall-mounted using its supplied swivel wall-mount bracket, making it ideal for placement above or below flat-panel LCDs or plasma displays, above a TV set or entertainment center furniture.

It features a 0.75-inch Metal Matrix Diaphragm tweeter along with two 3.5-inch MMD woofers for each channel. Infinity’s MMD driver cones are manufactured by anodizing both sides of an aluminum core to a controlled thickness, producing low-mass, highly rigid driver diaphragms that operate with greatly reduced distortion and deliver extraordinary transient response, resolution and smoothness throughout their entire frequency range, according to the company.

The TSS three-in-one is said to be acoustically optimized to provide outstanding imaging and dialogue localization and a seamless soundfield across a wide listening area. It employs Infinity’s acoustical design principles, intended to ensure it will provide sonically accurate performance in the widest variety of listening environments and placement positions.

Available in a choice of platinum or charcoal finish, the TSS three-in-one can be combined with Total Solutions surround speakers and a powered subwoofer.

The Infinity Total Solutions TSS three-in-one loudspeaker is currently available at a suggested retail price of $679.

Infinity is introducing its Classia series of high-performance loudspeakers at CES. Classia Series loudspeakers incorporate advanced technologies, including the company’s Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD) drivers for a wide range of home entertainment installations, the company said.

Models in the Infinity Classia Series include the following:

  • C205 two-way bookshelf (1-inch tweeter, 5.25-inch woofer);
  • CV225 two-way wall-mountable bookshelf (1-inch tweeter, dual 5.25-inch woofers);
  • CC225 two-way center channel speaker (1-inch tweeter, dual 5.25-inch woofers);
  • C336 three-way floorstanding (1-inch tweeter, 4-inch midrange driver, three 6.5-inch woofers, bi-wirable); and
  • C255ES two-way wall-mountable surround loudspeaker with selectable monopole, bipole, dipole, dual-speaker operation (dual 1-inch tweeters, dual 5.25-inch woofers).

All the drivers in Classia Series loudspeakers — woofers, tweeters and midrange — incorporate Infinity’s proven CMMD driver technology to deliver a level of sonic accuracy and musicality far superior to that of conventional loudspeakers, the firm said. CMMD drivers are manufactured by anodizing alumina, a ceramic compound, to both sides of an aluminum core. All Classia Series loudspeakers feature a CMMD tweeter with frequency response

Classia Series loudspeakers will be available in late spring 2007 with pricing to be announced. The loudspeakers will be available in two finishes — high-gloss black and cherry-wood veneer, both accented by silver and black trim and complementing grille colors. All models (except the C255ES) are magnetically shielded, and all utilize premium-quality parts and construction.

Infinity is also introducing its PSW12 powered subwoofer. The PSW-12 (suggested retail $799) is styled to match Infinity Classia Series loudspeakers, and employs a 12-inch CMMD woofer, built-in 400-watt amplifier and Infinity’s exclusive Bass Optimization System. The PSW12 features a full complement of controls and connection options to deliver articulate, extended low-frequency response in any system and room, the company said.
