Campbell, Calif. — Designed to transfer music to an iPod without the use of a PC, the iLoad from Wingspan Investment Partners is a shoebox-sized device that can also delete music from an iPod by title or category.

At a $299 suggested retail, the iLoad is used by plugging an iPod into the unit, inserting a CD and pressing the Go button, and the device will reportedly transfer the music and album and track information. It can also delete music from an iPod by title or by category such as “least listened to” or “oldest added,” play any track through a speaker or headphones connected to the unit’s audio output jack, and transfer music from one iPod to another without use of a computer.

It can also back up an iPod onto an external USB hard or flash disk

All commands are shown on iLoad’s LCD display and controlled with simple right and left arrow buttons. Copying speed is typically eight minutes per CD, or five times faster than the CD playing time, said the company in a release.

The iLoad is compatible with all USB iPods made since 2002, including the Shuffle, nano, Video iPod and the upcoming iPhone.
