Hyundai To Offer XM Standard On Every Car

Washington — Hyundai Motor America will offer XM satellite radio as standard factory equipment in every vehicle, across all models, starting next year, becoming the first automaker to include satellite radio as standard in every vehicle, said XM today.

Beginning in 2006, the Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe, Elantra and the upcoming replacement for the XG350 will offer XM.By the end of 2006, 75 percent of Hyundai’s sales volume will be XM-equipped with the remaining models to follow, totaling well over 500,000 units by 2007, XM said.

Hyundai will offer a three-month free trial subscription for XM.Typically, six out of 10 trial customers become full subscribers to XM, said an XM spokesman.

President/CEO of XM Hugh Panero said, “Including XM as standard equipment in all of its vehicles makes this one of the most aggressive automotive rollouts of XM Satellite Radio ever.”
