HTSA Signs Up Two New Members

Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA), the high-end A/V buying group headquartered here, added two new dealers to its ranks, raising its membership count to 49.

The new additions are Audio Video Showroom of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Kief’s Audio/Video in Lawrence, Kan.

According to HTSA executive director Richard Glikes, the expansion will provide representation in markets and states where voids exist. Filling those gaps with qualified dealers is one of the group’s goals for 2004, he said.

Audio Video was founded in 1996 by Tony Probst, who operates a single 11,000 square foot store. He said his business grew 50 percent in 2003, thanks in part to an “exploding” custom installation operation, and that he plans to tap into the “tremendous expertise” of fellow HTSA members.

Kief’s, operated by John Kiefer, began life in 1959 as a record store, and continues to serve the University of Kansas community with such lines as Sony, Pioneer Elite, Mitsubishi, Kef and Velodyne.
