HP Vista Upgrade Site Goes Live

Palo Alto, Calif. — Hewlett-Packard has gone online with a support service to help consumers upgrade for free to Microsoft’s Vista operating system.

The service is at www.hp.com/go/windowsvistaupgrade. Customers qualify for the upgrade if they purchase their HP computer between Oct. 26 and March 15 direct from HP or a retailer. Consumers will have until March 31 to take advantage of this offer. Vista will become available on Jan. 30, but customers can order their copy of the software now for later delivery.

On the site the consumer will be qualified and then mailed two DVDs, one containing Vista and the other with HP drivers for Vista. Downloads are not available. However, additional HP drivers will be downloaded to the computer owners via HP Update.

The HP DVD will contain step-by-step instructions on how to properly install Vista while ensuring the PCs data is properly backed up. Additional technical support is available through HP’s Instant Care and Total Care support programs.
