Palo Alto, Calif. — Hewlett-Packard announced it will recall about 14,000 notebook computer batteries that are a potential fire hazard.
All the batteries being recalled have a serial number that starts with L3.
The worldwide recall was instituted by HP, the battery manufacturer in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The batteries were assembled between Jan. 1, 2005, and Jan. 10, 2005. The effected batteries were included HP’s Pavilion, Compaq and Presario brands.
