HP Drops TouchPad Pricing $100

Palo Alto, Calif. –
Hewlett-Packard has made a $100 price cut on its TouchPad tablets permanent.

The decision to drop the
price was made after a $100-off instant-savings promotion run last weekend
proved so successful, the company said.

The TouchPad 16GB Wi-Fi
model now carries a $399 price, while the 32GB version is $499.

HP also has pushed out the first major update for WebOS 3.0 last
week.

The update helped improve:

  • email, with faster scrolling and image rendering;

  • photos, with easier and faster to set wallpaper, handle photos
    and albums;

  • audio/video, with reduced audio skipping when the tablet is
    doing other operations;

  • autocorrect, with shorter response time and better accuracy; and

  • rotation, with sensitivity decreased to prevent over-rotation.
