Alhambra, Calif. - Howard's Appliance and Flat Screen
Superstores opened its 11th location here over Black Friday weekend.
The Southern California majap and CE chain opened the
20,152-square-foot storefront in a vacant space that was originally slated to
be a Circuit City showroom.
In addition to the new store opening, Howard's has relocated
two other showrooms during the past 12 months, "taking advantage of the down
economy and benefitting from great properties being more affordable," said
president/CEO Judy Lawrence.
"This allows us to upgrade stores and locations so that
we've positioned ourselves properly for when the economy comes back," she said.
Howard's ranks 24th on TWICE's Top 100 dealer
rankings for appliances and 95th for consumer electronics, with
aggregate sales of $93 million last year. The 100 percent employee-owned chain
was founded by Howard Roach in 1946.
