Home Theater Store Renamed Modia

11/12/2007 10:28:00 AM Eastern

Houston — Home Theater Store CEO Mihir Mody has renamed his premium A/V and custom install chain Modia.

Mody, whose family founded the business in 1986, said the term “home theater” had since grown generic. The new brand, which melds the words emotion and media, better reflects the company’s new business model, he explained.

That model pares premium A/V with custom-made media furniture and proprietary installation concepts to create home theaters that are unique to each home.

“Anyone can sell audio video components and plasma TVs,” Mody said. In contrast, “Modia is focused on fully integrating architectural design, function and fashion to create living spaces that are exciting, comfortable, smart and beautiful. We are in the business of educating our clients by suggesting, demonstrating and delivering aesthetic solutions and ideas.”

Mody described the chain’s eight showrooms in Texas and Arizona as “idea galleries” as well as stores. “In addition to our retail clientele, we are a critical resource for designers, architects and custom homebuilders to explore and find a perfect design and aesthetic solution for their custom needs in the same manner one would go to a decorative center to select fabrics or furniture,” he said.

The PRO Group dealer said it will open additional locations next year to achieve a 50 percent growth rate. The Mody family also operates two sister companies: GEL, a low voltage blue print provider focusing on commercial and multi-dwelling projects, and Mody & Mody, a luxury home furnishings chain featuring lighting, rugs, wardrobes, kitchens, bath and accessories.
