Hisense Readies 6.8-Inch Smartphone

Barcelona, Spain —  Chinese CE vendor Hisense unveiled a 6.8-inch 4G LTE smartphone at the Mobile World Congress and hopes to bring a similar device to the U.S. sometime later this year, a spokesperson told TWICE.

The device would be the company’s first smartphone for the U.S. market. It was previewed at International CES and will be available in other countries in a month.

U.S. sales channels for the device, previewed at International CES, haven’t been determined.

The Maxe X1 can be paired with a 0.7-ounce Bluetooth handset to send and receive voice calls and text messages through the large-screen phablet.

The phablet runs the Android 4.4 OS and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, FullHD display, and 13-megapixel main rear-facing camera that offers FullHD video capture as well as panorama and fast-burst camera modes. The 9.2mm-thick (0.36-inch) device also features front stereo speakers, 5.1 Dolby virtual surround technology and three noise-canceling microphones.

The phablet comes with MHL output to display content on a TV equipped with an MHL-enabled HDMI input. It also transmits content wirelessly to TVs.
