Hisense Adds HD Plasma

Boca Raton, Fla. — Hisense, which is represented by market consultants Trans Global Consulting, based here, recently started shipping a new 42W-inch HD plasma display that carries a $1,799 suggested retail price.

The panel, model PHD-4220US, will be added to the company’s growing lineup of flat-panel TVs, which currently includes high-definition LCD TVs in the 32W-inch, 37W-inch and 42W-inch screen sizes, and a 20W-inch EDTV. The sets all carry the Hisense brand.

The company currently distributes Hisense-branded TVs through Kohl’s department stores and select online dealers. The new 42W-inch plasma model is available now through online retailer Tiger Direct, the company said.

In addition, “we are also in negotiations with several large retailers and CE distributors to pick up the line,” stated Daniel Sparrow, TGC CEO.

Panel resolution of the plasma set is said to be 1,024 by 768 and the contrast ratio is listed as 10,000:1, while panel brightness is said to be 1,500 cd/m2. Features include a built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner. Inputs include HDMI, and dual sets of component video jacks, in addition to dual S-video and composite video terminals. A single VGA input is also included.
