hhgregg Invades D.C., Begins Hiring In Pa.

WASHINGTON

— hhgregg continued its Mid-
Atlantic rollout last week with the opening of
10 stores in and around the nation’s capital
and has begun recruiting for a new location
in Erie, Pa.

The new stores bring hhgregg’s Washington
store count to 12, and raise its total store
count to 168.

“Expanding into the Washington D.C. market
has been an important landmark of our
company’s growth,” said marketing VP Jeff
Pearson. “We look forward to providing residents
with the widest selection of appliances
and electronics along with the friendly and
professional customer-service experience that
set us apart from the competition.”

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held last
Thursday, followed by grand-opening sales
events including Magellan GPS and Frigidaire
stainless-steel majap giveaways.

Separately, hhgregg has also begun recruiting
for a new store that’s slated to open in
Erie, Pa., this fall. The store will be the chain’s
western-most location in the state, following a
spate of new-store openings in eastern Pennsylvania
and throughout the Philadelphia metro
area this past spring.

The company is recruiting 50 commissioned
sales associates, managers-in-training, warehouse
workers and customer-service merchandisers
to staff the new store. Interviews
will be conducted Sept. 20 through Oct. 8.

The new locations are all part of the specialty
retailer’s planned 45-store expansion throughout
the Mid-Atlantic States, announced last year.
