HD Radio Continues To Expand

Bala Cynwyd, Penn. — Entercom Communications, the fourth largest radio broadcaster in the country, announced plans to accelerate the rollout of digital broadcasting on nearly all of its radio stations.

Entercom is currently upgrading to HD Radio in Boston and Seattle, has upcoming launches in Denver and Portland, Ore., in the next few months, and will roll out digital radio to additional markets. These will eventually total about 80 percent of Entercom’s stations over the next four years, said the company.

The announcement came less than two weeks after Clear Channel, the nation’s largest broadcaster, announced plans to convert 1,000 stations to digital broadcasting.
