Harman Debuts JBL Synchros Headphones Line

Stamford, Conn. — Harman International expanded its JBL brand of headphones with the formal debut of the Synchros line on Wednesday.

All five Synchros models make use of JBL’s new LiveStage signal processing technology, said to recreate a warm, natural feeling, as well as the company’s PureBass technology.

The flagship of the line, the S700 over-ear headphones, feature 50mm drivers; detachable cable with in-line remote and mic; and a die-cast aluminum construction with woven fabric accents, steel headband and leather ear cushions. These are powered headphones that operate via a rechargeable lithium-ion battery; battery life is said to be 28 hours.

Two colors will be offered: Onyx and Glacier. Suggested retail is $349.

Another over-ear model, the Synchros S500 ($299), has similar specs as the S700 but is powered by two AAA batteries. Battery life is listed at 20 hours. These will also come in Onyx and Glacier.

In on-ear headphones, the Synchros S300 ($199) have 40mm drivers, a steel headband and leather ear cushions. The S300 will fold for storage and come in six colors.

Harman also announced two in-ear JBL Synchros models: the S200 ($129) and the S100 ($99.95). The former has 10mm drivers, while the latter has 9mm drivers. Both have aluminum ear pieces and angled ear tips, and both come with a pair of Comply foam tips in addition to three sizes of silicone ear tips. They will be offered in Onyx and Glacier, with or without in-line controls.
