Haier Picks Sonic For Digital Movie Delivery

Novato, Calif. –
Sonic Solutions announced that Haier has chosen the RoxioNow platform to
provide digital movies and TV shows via the web to its new line of Blu-ray Disc
players and HDTVs.

“Digital movie
services powered by the RoxioNow platform will play an important role in our
next-generation connected devices and help make it easy for consumers to
browse, purchase and enjoy the best in digital entertainment from the comfort
of their living rooms,” said Doug Lane, president of Haier digital products group
for the Americas, in a Sonic statement.

“With its broad
placement at major retail outlets, Haier will help to significantly raise
awareness for over-the-top video services and further fuel consumer adoption,”
said Mark Ely, executive VP of strategy, Sonic Solutions. “Sonic will continue
to help companies launch compelling digital offerings and expand device support
in order to establish over-the-top video services as the most flexible and
convenient entertainment choice for consumers.”

The RoxioNow
platform serves a broad range of premium content, including new movies and
next-day TV programs, to a growing, multi-manufacturer group of home and mobile
electronics including PCs, connected TVs, set-top DVRs, Blu-ray Disc players,
smartphones and mobile media devices.

The platform
enables retailers and consumer electronics companies to participate in the
entertainment supply chain, add value to product offerings and form ongoing
relationships with customers. “Powered by RoxioNow” stores enable consumers to
instantly rent and purchase high-quality entertainment on their favorite device
and, through the RoxioNow online entertainment locker, the flexibility to
playback content ordered on additional consumer electronics devices.

RoxioNow powers
digital entertainment delivery for a range of companies including Best Buy,
Blockbuster, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Kmart, Lionsgate and Sears, and is
available on a broad variety of consumer electronics devices.
