Haier To Open New HQ On Monday

Wayne, N.J. — Haier America will formally open its new headquarters here on Monday.

The event, to be attended by New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and other local dignitaries, will mark the culmination of the company’s multi-month move from its longtime offices in Midtown Manhattan, where it occupied an historic bank building.

The relocation brings 56,000 square feet of office space to Haier and 200 jobs to New Jersey.

The new facility features product and future technology showrooms, a state-of-the-art conference room, product evaluation and customer service areas, and training centers, plus room for future expansion, the company said.

Haier America CEO Adrian Micu said earlier this year that the new headquarters complex would support both its expansion across the Americas and a revamped organization that better serves its customers and consumers.

The company began more than a dozen years ago as a joint venture between a private group led by Michael Jemal and China-based Haier Group, the world’s largest appliance manufacturer by unit volume. Haier acquired it outright in August 2013 and made it a wholly owned division, with factories in Camden, S.C., and a forthcoming R&D tech center in Evansville, Ind.
