Huntingdon, UK, — Robert Haefling, formerly Genesis Microchip corporate marketing VP, was named CEO of Meridian Audio today.

Haefling, who handled the Faroudja brand at Genesis, moves to Meridian, which recently licensed the Faroudja brand for its own high-end home theater video components. Haefling helped draft the agreement between the two companies.

“I have always been impressed with Meridian and realized that it was, quite simply, the best in the consumer audio field, with an excellent combination of innovation, management team and dedicated staff,” Haefling in a statement announcing the move. “The company has a great opportunity to leverage its unique technologies and brand and expand into new and diverse markets,” he continued, “and I am very pleased to be joining Meridian as it is poised to enter its 30th year.”

“We are an expanding and developing company,” said chairman and technical director Robert Stuart, “and it’s vital that we have the right team in place to take Meridian forward for the next phase of its development. Robert Haefling will play a key role in that transition and we are very pleased to welcome him on board.”

In other moves, Meridian announced that Stuart Russell was hired for the newly created post of marketing manager, and Alan Douglas was tabbed as special projects manager at the Research and Development department.

Prior to joining Meridian, Russell was Marketing Manager with the U.K. manufacturing arm of Widex, a Danish company in the hearing healthcare field.

Douglas was previously based in Hong Kong, where he worked for Foster Electric, a leading Japanese OEM audio products manufacturer. He had also worked for Linn Products for many years prior to that.
