San Diego – GreatCall has
expanded the retail presence of its
cellphones to the Meijer supercenter chain.
Meijer has begun carrying carry all
three color variations of the Jitterbug J cellphone, targeted to people who
want simple-to-use phones. The phones appear all 192 Meijer stores in Michigan,
Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
Jitterbugs, which are bundled
with Great Calls’ service, also appear in such chains as Best Buy, Fry’s, Sears
Hometown stores, franchised RadioShack stores and ShopKo. In Meijer stores, the
Jitterbugs will join Meijer’s selection of groceries, clothing, garden center
products and electronics.
The
of Jitterbug phones debuted last year. They feature large, backlit
buttons, a soft ear cushion to improve sound quality, and live, U.S.-based
customer service available 24/7. GreatCall also offers customers a variety of
services through the handsets, including health and wellness services.
One service, LiveNurse, offers
unlimited 24/7 access to a live registered nurse. Wellness Calls with Dr. Brian
Alman offer information for relaxing, motivating and overall well-being, and
MyWorld provides local weather, daily trivia, updates on a favorite sports team
or stock investment, and other personalized information.
