GM Expands Car Wi-Fi

San Francisco
– Autonet Mobile is extending its car Wi-Fi hot
spot to more General Motors vehicles as dealer options, it announced
today.

Beginning this month, GM dealerships will carry the hot-spot-for-the-car
for select Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. It will also be
available at GMMExtras.com.

Previously, Autonet’s $399 hot spot has been available on select
GM Cadillac models
as well as on Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles plus the
Volkswagen Routan, also as dealer options.

The Autonet Wi-Fi hot spot uses a secure EV-DO connection and
converts it to Wi-Fi so passengers in the car can connect to the Internet via a
laptop, iPod Touch, PSP or other device.

The new system also comes with a docking station so the hot spot
may be shuttled between vehicles.

The hot spot is also sold through consumer electronics retailers,
including Amazon.com.
