General Car Electronics Product – Cobra Electronics Drive HD Dash Cam

The emerging product category of dash cams, popularized by a dash-cam video of a destructive meteor in Russia, is on the rise. And winners are beginning to emerge.

One is Cobra’s $249 CDR 900 Drive HD Cam, which differentiates itself in multiple ways, the company said. One, it is the only model with an Ambarella A7LA chipset to deliver what the company calls the industry’s best image quality, nighttime performance, and wide dynamic range. It also records 1296P Super HD and 1080p FullHD video. Another big difference is a wide 160-degree viewing angle, compared with other models with 118-degree viewing angle.

The biggest difference, however, is Wi-Fi. With free iOS and Android apps, smartphones can control the camera, stream live video from the CDR900, and view and download videos and images from the CDR 900’s SD card for immediate sharing or editing.

When the CDR is connected to a Wi-Fi router, its video can be viewed on the app from anywhere in the world. The app lets users view video from up to four CDR900 models at a time.

The device features 2-inch LCD screen and MicroHDMI output, which lets users view pictures and videos on an HDTV or computer.
