Fujifilm Powers Nextel Handset Photo Ordering

Valhalla, N.Y. — Fuji Photo Film added Nextel to its roster of mobile carriers offering Get the Picture Mobile service.

The partnership allows Nextel to offer users of its MMS-enabled camera phones the ability to upload images from their handsets to over 3,100 Fujifilm partner retail locations to make prints. Participating retailers include Ritz Camera, Wolf Camera and Sam’s Club.

Nextel is offering the application, called PhotoShare, as a download on its Web-site. The application was developed by Summus, Inc.

Fujifilm has also provided Nextel with its Get the Picture photo services for use on the Nextel site, including the ability to album, e-mail and order prints from digital photos for pick-up at local retail stores. Users can access the Web-site’s photo features through eligible Nextel phones.

Nextel will offer PhotoShare for a monthly charge of $2.99.
