Frame Media Responds To Ceiva Suit

Boston — Frame Media said today it would “aggressively refute” allegations that it infringed on a patent held by digital frame maker Ceiva Logic.

Frame Media, along with Digital Spectrum Solutions, was named in a patent-infringement lawsuit filed by Ceiva Logic on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Frame Media provides technology to digital frame makers, such as Samsung and Digital Spectrum, that allows networked frames to receive content from the Internet.

In a statement released by the company, founder/CEO Alan Phillips said: “The technology in our FrameChannel service does not infringe on the patent owned by Ceiva Logic … We are only at a very early stage of discovery. However, our initial findings suggest not only that Frame Media does not infringe Ceiva Logic’s patent, but that Ceiva Logic’s patent may be invalid. We look forward to presenting our case in U.S. District Court.”

Frame Media has retained the services of Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks.

A hearing date has not yet been set.
